I have not forgotten about you!  I have just not really known what to put on here.  

First Saturday is coming this next Saturday.  Be at the church at 8am for breakfast and no later than 8:30.  We will be done and back by noon.

The Uganda team is currently "in training" for the May trip.  Pray for us.

Facebook Rant

So, today I posted how terrible my day was going on my facebook status.  It was.  It was "momentary" in that the terrible badness and thing I couldn't control or fix went on for several hours.  But it was only momentary.  

However, that "momentary" situation caused me to be in a funk the rest of the day.  I have a good friend who is in the ministry going through a difficult time and tonight they needed a lot of prayer. Another friend needs a lot of prayer tomorrow.  I think I just got tired of it all.  Of praying and asking God to do His thing.  Of waiting to see what will happen.  Of trying to figure it out.  

I spent some good chill time with some of my community group tonight and went for a little drive tonight.  On the way home I thought "I wish I could just see Jesus.  To put my hands on him. To see His face.  To hear Him tell me why I am where I am."  And then I realized that isn't going to happen.  

I think If Jesus was standing in front of me He would say He loves me.  I don't think He would try to list off the reasons why I am where I am.  Or why I should go where I am going.  I think He would say "I love you."  And remind me of who He is.  Because that Is what God did when He spoke with Moses at the burning bush.  (See Ex 3 if you need a refresher).   Moses said "Who am I?"  God said "I will go with you."  He didn't convince Moses of anything other than who HE was.  I AM.

So I think I will stop ranting and figuring and everything else and just look at Him and be reminded of HIM.  Because after all, looking at Him is much better than looking at me.  And go. With Him.

And special thanks to those who spoke truth into my world today.  Your timing is divine and much appreciated.  And you probably didn't even know it. 

Project: Available Spring Break Edition

Alrighty.  So Spring Break is coming up.  Want to do something crazy, great, and stretching?  Join us for Project: Available. 

Friday March 13th we will leave around 5:30 and return Wed March 18th.  $100 covers everything.  Destination will not be told.  This is the most unique trip we have done for Spring Break.  I think everyone involved will see things differently after only the first 24 hours!

First Saturday

So Here is ONE concrete thing available for you to do here in Lee County.  

First Saturday 2009 version.  We will be heading into the community!

First First Saturday is Feb 7th.

We will meet at 8am- breakfast and short devo then head out by 8:30 to our worksite.  We will be back to the church by noon.  Simple as that! 

We will be partnering with ARM for our first event.  The youth will also meet up at 8-12 but will have their own project each month.  

In future months we may have additional non construction opportunities in the community.  Just come at 8 and see what is available that day.  

I am excited!  We will be building a relationship with a family in need as well as who knows what in the coming months!

What do you do for a living?

I have recently figured out that I don't like "What do you do for a living?" The question I mean. 

For those of you who don't know, I quit my job back in November.  I was doing children's ministry and loving the task orientedness and the kids but not the divided heart and mind.  I love missions.  I love Uganda.  I was continually divided in my brain and heart on children and the missions.  So I did what I felt God telling me to do and I  quit.  And the "sure thing" of the next job turned out to not be the next job.  So I was unemployed for 5 weeks.   I continually joked that if all else failed I would work at Chick-Fil-A.  I didn't feel that God had another job for me.  So I applied at Chick Fil A and my first day of official work in the front was Christmas Eve.  

I get the funny looks when folks who know me see me at work.  First because I have a pony tail (and VERY hairsprayed hair).  Second because I work at CFA.  For so many it seems odd.  For me it doesn't.  Here is a list of the reasons why it doesn't seem odd to me.

1. God is taking care of me.  I cannot tell you how He has taken care of the details in my life through the body of Christ and the truth of His word.  

2. It's a great place to work.  I think most everyone likes me.  I like most everyone :) 

3. For the most part it is busy.  That helps the 9 hour work days go by.

4.  It has really readjusted my definition of service.  Servant heart. and Humility.  

5. I know it is where I am supposed to be right now. 

6. I am off on Sundays :)

7. I haven't had any problems getting up at 5am and being at work by 6am.  And for those of you who know me, you know I DON"T do mornings! 

8.  Saying "My Pleasure" six billion times a day has a way of making you think about what you are saying and realizing that you mean it.  

9.  I am being AVAILABLE.  And right now that means being at CFA.  

So for all those reasons it's not odd.

Now, why do I hate "What do you do for a living?"  Because I have realized that my job does NOT define me.  Too many times in the past I have allowed it to.  I work at CFA to make money.  To relate to my coworkers. To serve people there. But not for a living.

What I do for a living is serve a marvelous, amazing, fascinating, glorious, wonderful Savior.  

So if you hear me say "What do you do for a living?" in relation to your job please punch me. Cuz I don't mean it.

A new year

If you are anything like me- you probably haven't noticed that I haven't blogged lately.  I haven't been in a routine and haven't been sitting at my computer much.  But I haven't forgotten about you. 

2008 is over.  My to do list from 2008 has started off my 2009 to do list.  I look forward to the year.  After last year I can't imagine what this one will look like.  I know it will be different.  It already is.  Here is a bullet point list of differents:

• Kyle and Jenna have moved.  Say hey to them at their new blog.An Elon Journey
• I just put up 2 Christmas trees. My 4 foot one and my parents 10 ft or bigger one.  They are in VA with my brother and his family.  One of his twins has been in the hospital since last week.  Pray for them.  With 4 kids a dog all under 5 it gets hairy.  
• I have a new job.  Chick-Fil-A Tigertown.  This will get a blog post on it's own. 
• I get up at 5 at least 4 days a week.  That is 5 A.M.  EARLY.  wow. 
• I started the new year laying in bed texting my friend half way across the country. Never did that before.   
• I am selling my house. 
• I now own a paid off car- thank you anonymous brother and sister in Christ. 
• I will be 35 this year.  Never done that before. 
• Friends getting married and having babies.  Oh how things change so much!  
• I get to see my sponsor child in Buloba.  Never called one of them my "own" before.   
• I have not planned my life out on my calendar already for the year.  That is a first in several years.  
• I am AVAILABLE like never before.  It is my prayer to remain that way.
• I love Jesus more.  I hope next year to say that again. 

Hope your new year is off to a great start!  I cannot wait to see what is going to happen!
